From
sixteen battleships 4000 sailors and 1000 marines came
ashore to participate in the parade. One Marine
Brigade and four Naval Divisions were formed for the
parade. Each Division was supported by a Batallion
of 200 men from each ship. Each Batallion had
four Companies of 50 men that were generally transported
in a single cutter. The bands from each ship were
combined to form five bands, one for the Brigade, and
one for each Division.
