Joe & May

The collections that I enjoy must are cards between a sailor and his loved ones at home.  Sometimes for the whole cruise and other times, like this, a few cards here and there.

This group of postcards were written from Joe Hrabak, USS Missouri to his sister May, in Cleveland, Ohio.  They extend from late in the cruise to after the cruise.

At left, a postcard from Amoy, China, two singing girls, but, I would image it represents the relationship this brother and sister enjoyed.  (Select image to see back of card.)

These three cards provide views from Ceylon with the Grand Hotel in downtown Colombo, the lake at Kandy, and the landing jetty at Colombo.

Piree, Greece

A difficult port visit to find cards, this view of the harbor of Piree was sent by Joe on the day before he departed.
