This is a small collection of
items that were in the estate of E. A. Lofquist, a Midshipman
onboard the USS Connecticut. The collection includes
no photographs or postcards, (probably saved separately),
but a collection of invitations and cards from various
events and ports.

Jockey Club in San Francisco.

This is one of
the many club memberships Midshipman Lofquist saved
during his cruise. this one is for the Jonathan
Club of Los Angeles.

This
is an official inviation to the ball planned
for the visit to Los Angeles. The
ball was planned in honor of Admiral Evans
and include his wife as part of the planning
committee. Below is the inside of
this program.

At right is the
invitation Midshipman Lofquist received to the Hotel
Del Coronado in honor of Admiral Evan and the men of
the fleet. Admiiral Evans was unable to attend
because of ill health.

Souvenir
of Uncle Sam's Bull-Dogs
This envelope contains a complete
set of cards of the American Fleet, "Most Powerful
Fleet, Ever Assembled on Longest, Voyage Ever Attempted."
An item available as the fleet visited San Francisco.

Railroad
Hospitality
The Fleet
was treated well in San Francisco. The Railroad
Company issued this strip of tickets that included Lunch
at the Tavern of Tamalpais, and Round-trip ticket to
Mill Valley.
The
Citizens of Bellingham
A
dance for the Atlantic Fleet that included the Rohrbacher's
Orchestra and 20 dances the night of May 22, 1908.

Arriving
in Auckland, New Zealand Midshipman Lofquist received
a Government Railways First Class Pass - FREE! The
booklet, shown above is a small leather pass with the
information regarding the dates logged on the inside.
"until 15th day of August 1908."

The
Melbourne Welcome
Emanuel
received an Honorary Member's Ticket to the Melbourne
Bicycle Club on September 8,1908.
On
September 2, he visited the Northcote Town Hall for
the evening events. The evening events included
song, recitation, solos and dance.

The
Events at the Japan Tea Hall
This is the original
invitation to the Japan Tea Hall on the grounds fronting
the Yokohama Railway Depot where a special reception
was arranged for the American Fleet. Below the
inside expressing the formal invitation.

The
Banquet held in honor of the fleet was held on November
3rd. The menu included a mixture of European favorites
mixed with traditional meals from China. At left
the cover for the Banquet; at right the menu providing
the wines and food for the meal.

This is a second
menu for in official tiffin held for the American Fleet
at Amoy in November 1st.
|
|

This
is a program of the Tiffin tendered to the officers
of the U.S. Battleship Fleet by the Foreign Residents
of Kulangsu at the Amoy Club.
The
menu included such items as Roast Beef, Chicken and
Shanghai Game Pie.

At left is a program
for the concert given on December 14, 1908 celebrating
the visit of the American Fleet to Ceylon. The
event was given at the Public Hall in downtown Ceylon.
