Visiting
the Ships
Richard's photographs
were many times as a spectator to the events around
him. In the photograph at right his shows small boats
coming alongside the ship with visitors. On back:
"Early morning visitors. Visiting hours 10
am to 5 pm. Launches flying back and forth all
day get money at 25 cents a trip at Tacoma. 50
cents in Seattle". This photograph
in Seattle.

Another
photograph of the ship receiving visitors. In
this photograph the ship is shown with a Filet barge
for small boats to disembark passengers.
On
Back: "Filet at Tacoma Washington. Visitors
on the Quarterdeck of the New Jersey the ship inside
and out being filled with many hundred visitors."
|
|
The photograph
at right shows the welcome arch for the fleet on Decoration
Day during the Fleet's visit to Tacoma.
In the background
can be seen the entrance to the Northern
Pacific Railway Line that went to Yellowstone Park.
