Photographs
of the Fleet at Anchor in Elliot Bay
|
The
fleet anchored in just off downtown Seattle. The
image at left is taken from the Seattle Times from the
May 25th, 1908 edition. At the base of the angle
is Coleman Dock, the main ferry terminal still today.
The Lousiana was to the left and the Connecticut
to the right. Stretching along Alaskan Way are
lined the units of the fleet. At this distance
they would have been well in view of the citizens and
visitors to the city.
From
the order it appears the newest ships were given anchorages
in near view.
