At
The flow of cards between Ben and Nellie seemed to fall
off somewhat. From cards I have not posted there
were references to letters that I thing might have carried
the bulk of their throughts during this period.
He
did get one card from Nellie's sister Issy asking "How
do you like Japan?" The card depicts a "Summer
on the Farm" scene, and was received onboard November
25th, 1908 while the ship was in Manila Bay.

Phillipines
This
is a set of cards that Ben sent to Nellie all on the
25th of November. "Only six more days and
its homeward bound." "Going to skidos
in a few days and get away from this joint. " "29
- 0 - 52". "Was ashore on duty yesterday,
no shore leave here otherwise." "10

Mail
Call in Suez, Egypt
Two cards
received on January 3rd, 1909 while the ship had just entered the
Suez Canal. One from Mack the other from Beth wishing Ben
an a Thanksgiving Greeting. The mail by this time was more
than a month behind the holiday being celebrated.

A
Mail Call Cairo, Egypt
At the end of
the Canal Ben received three more cards from home. Two
of the cards were Christmas cards mailed December 15th
and 21st, the other a card about Boston mailed on the
20th. All three cards are canceled onboard January
7th, 1909
