The collection contained five cards from the Fleet's  visit to Australia.  None of the cards contained cancellations or comments from George.

 The Cards from Japan


From the cards George mailed from Japan it is apparent he had a good time and enjoyed the culture.  His cards contained many images of the Gisha girls including this Fleet Welcome card from the Onoya Silk Store.  

The card was canceled with the Fleet commerative cancel of the visit.

 This card shows a monument of Aargo in Uyeno Park, Tokyo.  The card is nicely canceled using the commerative "Yokohama" cancel and includes the request for his Aunt to forward his mail through the Post Master New York, NY.  Previous to this mail and been going through the post office at San Francisco.

This is a nice card of the Entrance to the Pier at Yokohama.  His correspondence is written to his Aunt.  In the text he requests that newspapers be mailed.  The card is canceled with the commerative "Yokohama" cancel.

These two cards are images from Japanese life.  The top card depicts a geshi girl being pulled in a rickshaw with Mount Fuji in the background.  

 

 

 

 

The lower card shows the life of geshi girls in a tranquil setting.


 

This set of cards show women of Japan.  The cards are made from Detroit Publishing company.  Each card is un-used and was saved in excellent condition.
