The fleet of torpedo destroyers included Whipple, Truxton, Lawrence, Hopkins, Hull, and Stewart.  Under the Command of LT Cone the flotilla got underway with the Fleet on December 16th From Hampton Roads.  There transit to the west coast generally followed the battleships movement and the flotilla was in San Francisco as part of the great armada assembled.  

Later these same units were towed behind Armored Cruisers to make a deployment to the Samoa Islands in August 1908.
