The Chamberlin Hotel was at the start and end of the cruise serving as a social meeting place for the community and crews of the ships while anchored.

This card was issued by H. H. Stratton documenting the events of the Fleet's return on February 22, 1909.  The photograph shows the hotel with bunting on all levels and people gather on the pier awaiting the fleet.

These cards show the comfort and views of the guest at the Chamberlin Hotel.  Sitting on the porch or walking on the pier, guest were able to view the Fleet..

For years the hotel served as a place where crewmembers, family and friends would meet before ships departed for a cruise, and then as the focal point of their return.
